The Alice ISD athletic department recognized its Student Athletes of Character for the first six weeks Friday.

The Alice High School Student Athletes of the first six weeks are seniors Samuel Salinas and Mya Cruz, juniors R.J. Carrillo and Mia Longoria, sophomores William Crisman and Daniella Contreras, and freshmen Alejandro Vasquez and Anglie Rodriguez.

Each six weeks, one boy and girl student-athlete from each grade level at Alice High School and William Adams Middle School are being selected as Student Athletes of Character. To be eligible, student athletes must be in good standing with the program. They must also be passing all classes, free of discipline issues and must display great character. The student athletes are nominated by their coaches.

Alice ISD assistant athletic director Jaime Boswell said the student-athletes don’t necessarily have to be the best athletes.

“They simply have to be a hard worker who is also a great teammate that represents Alice,” he said
